The outcome of this double cd was realized during sessions recorded live on April 25-29, 2003, in the Mojave Desert in California.
On this occasion, several musicians drew inspiration from the retro electronic and Berliner School of music, in particular Tangerine Dream’s album “White Eagle“.
Among the musicians were Wolfram Spyra, Free System Projekt, Airsculpture, Star Sounds Orchestra, Paul Lawler (aka Arcane), Dave Brewer, Bill Fox, and Volker Koenig.
They all certainly felt inspired, as the 159 minutes of warm, engaging en well-known sounds and dynamic, strong sequencing is something to enjoy.
Happily enough, the featured tracks are quite long, ranging between seven and seventeen minutes, so there was enough space to develop and sculpt the music.
Although I didn’t find the addition e-guitar not always at place at some point, most pieces score far above average.
Absolute highlight is the stunning “Linda’s Ghost”, found on the second disc, but also parts one and three of “Alluvial Elements” and the 17-minute “Horizon Memories” on the first cd are especially well done.
