The concept album “True Stories” features a full collaboration between ambient musicians vidna Obmana and Jeff Pearce (who already worked together on Vidna’s 1997 album “Crossing the Trail”), combining their mutual passion for beautiful, sedate and serene sonic environments. Subtitled as “New Stories for Themes” , the sequence of the twelve tracks present themselves as chapters of a book, of which a sense of development leading to drama runs like a current as the album progresses. The carefully moulded and intimate sounding miniature pieces of Pearce’s treated guitar sounds and Vidna’s melodic sampling are of an overall fluid nature, slowly changing mood as its evolves. All in all, the gently drifting 66-minute “True Stories” is a high-quality ambient work, offering the listener a comfortable place to dwell and reflect in. |
